Hiding Livy
When it gets really quiet in our house I know that means there is trouble lurking somewhere. And when I say trouble I mean there is a one year old loose in the house and she could be up to anything from smearing Megs chap stick all over her face and other random objects, to coloring on the laptop with a highlighter found nearby. Whatever and wherever that trouble is, first I have to find it. My first instinct when it gets unusually quiet is to call for Livy. "Liiiivy, where are you?" But, this would be a mistake. Because that is Livy's signal that she needs to hide. Which you would think, so whats the big deal, how well can a one year old hide? But somehow she manages to remain unfindable for quite sometime. When I finally do find her she is face down on the ground, laying ever so quietly, her hands covering her eyes, because if she can't see you, surely you can't see her. It is the smallness of her stature and her uncommon quietness that helps her to be hidden. I have often overlooked her behind an ottoman or in a corner because of this. The only time when these qualities have not helped her is when she is running away from me after having done something naughty and I am chasing after her. She then decides that hiding is necessary and she drops right where she is and assumes her hiding stance.
